Staff Highlight: Kate Reef

Kate Reef is a versatile architect who excels at both project design and construction administration. Distinctive mixed-use and multi-family projects are the focus of her most recent work.

Kate excels at seeing the big picture while also keeping a firm grasp on the details. Her ability to communicate, anticipate challenges and understand the needs of project partners make her a strong team leader. Attracted to architecture by a deep curiosity about the many pieces that must come together to construct a building, Kate enjoys the constantly changing puzzle that every project presents.

As project architect for The Spark, she is leading a team designing a pair of buildings – one exclusively residential and the other residential and commercial – connected by a bridge spanning a forested pathway.

Kate previously performed construction administration and assisted with the design and technical packages for Modera Redmond, a five-story multi-family project. The unique Y shape of the 300-unit building maximizes the rentable space without limiting livability.

Kate also assisted with the design and technical packages and the permit and construction documents for The Triangle, an award-winning apartment building with 195 residential units and two retail spaces. Developed on a constrained three-sided lot, the six-story LEED certified building was awarded 2019 Suburban Development of the Year Award by NAIOP.

Kate has a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from Lehigh University and a Master’s in architecture from the University of Washington.
